Overwatch’s new event lets you unlock a Lego Bastion skin

Overwatch players will have something to tide them over between last month’s Summer Games and the forthcoming Halloween Terror seasonal events, thanks to Bastion’s Brick Challenge, a new two-week mini-event. Players can earn a new legendary skin for everyone’s favorite nature-loving turret as well as some other cosmetics by playing the game and watching select streamers on Twitch.

Pokémon Go adds new Gen 5 Pokémon today

The next generation of Pokémon, originating from the Unova region, are coming to Pokémon Go today, Sept. 16. That means new Pokémon that originally debuted in Pokémon Black and Pokémon White will start spawning in the wild, appearing in raids, and hatching from eggs. Some of those new Pokémon are exclusive to raid battles and certain areas of the world.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake will have a turn-based ‘Classic Mode’ that plays like the original

Final Fantasy 7 Remake will have a “classic” gameplay option for players who prefer their role-playing games turn-based, just as the original Final Fantasy 7 was back in 1997. At Tokyo Game Show on Saturday, producer Yoshinori Kitase confirmed that the remake of the classic JRPG — which updates the game to be an action-RPG — will offer an optional turn-based battle mode where players can select attacks and other moves from a menu interface.

Feel what it was like to live in Ancient Greece in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s new mode

There’s a lot of fascinating history to devour in Discovery Tour, an educational new mode released for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. You can learn about the origins of the Olympic Games, the myth of the Minotaur, or the history of Athens’ mighty Parthenon. But the tour focuses on more everyday things too: winemaking, religious practices, the role of women in society, and the running of a typical Greek household. And it’s these things—these glimpses of the mundane, the human—that I really connected with as I wandered the streets, fields, and ruins of Ubisoft’s dramatic take on Ancient Greece.

Gears 5 ‘steals’ its best features from XCOM and party games

The Gears of War franchise has always been rooted in cooperative gameplay.

Back in 2006, the original Gears of War launched with a seamless two-player campaign that offered the same experience as the single-player version, just with a friend. Now, with Gears 5, developer The Coalition is doubling down with two brilliant new cooperative hooks, features which remind me more of party games and the XCOM series, of all things, rather than a traditional third-person shooter.

Control update addresses performance issues, rolling out now
